Coinciding with the release of an EP of the same name, Berlin duo Sophia&Olga share latest single ‘Stay Where I Am,’ a dreamy composition that is anchored by a commanding vocal performance. “I wont leave you alone with these thoughts” sings Sophia Bicking, opening the piece as the piano of Olga Reznichenko breathes a heavy sigh. Bicking is accompanied by soft and sleepy trumpet before taking a step back and allowing the listener to drift along atop a loose and impressionistic instrumental. The piece climbs and intensifies like a racing mind, jumps to conclusions, cries out in anguish then dissipates as Bicking restores calm, once again singing “I wont leave you alone with these thoughts.” Since meeting in Leipzig over ten years ago, Bicking and Reznichenko have been deftly and expertly combining their strengths to create powerful artistic statements such as this and, in their words, “make the world a little better”. -Adam Brown
